Both Chemical (Solvent Extraction) and Mechanical (Steam Conditioning; Expansion; Extrusion; Mechanical Oil Expelling) are used to process Oilseed. Chemical Processing makes it possible to minimise the residual oil in the resulting oilseed meal compared to Mechanical Processing. Mechanical Processing maximises the efficiency of Thermal Treatment and the digestibility of protein, fat and fibre.
