The third feed mill project for Rothkötter
High-Capacity Poultry Feed Production in Boizenburg
Rothkötter Mischfütterwerk and Ottevanger have worked together on several generations of feed production facilities. After modifications and expansions to Rothkötter’s first factory and the construction of a second feed mill in Haren-Hüntel in 2008–2009, Rothkötter commissioned Ottevanger to realise a third facility at the end of 2015.
The new conventional feed mill was built in Boizenburg in northern Germany and became operational in spring 2018. Designed specifically for poultry feed production, the facility has an annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes. The plant layout allows this capacity to be expanded to approximately 500,000 tonnes per year in the future.
Raw materials are received by truck through an intake system with a capacity of up to 300 m³/h. The plant incorporates cleaning and raw material storage, followed by precise dosing and weighing. Grinding is handled by a combination of a vertical hammer mill and roller mill, providing flexibility in raw material preparation.
Production is organised around two mixing lines and two pelleting lines. Each pelleting line has a capacity of 22 t/h and incorporates conditioning, pelleting, cooling, crumbling, sieving and coating. The design also provides space for a third pelleting line as part of a future expansion.
Finished feed is stored in 30 cells with a combined capacity of 1,985 m³. From there, the product is loaded into trucks using dedicated conveying and loading systems designed for controlled bulk handling.
The Boizenburg facility represents the third major feed mill project in the long-standing cooperation between Rothkötter and Ottevanger, combining high-capacity poultry feed production with a plant design prepared for further expansion.
