Retention Time Barrel (RTB)

The Retention Time Barrel holds conditioned product at a controlled temperature for a set time to ensure uniform thermal treatment. A heated, insulated stainless steel barrel provides true first in first out flow, improving steam absorption, pellet durability, and often increasing capacity by up to 15%. It can be installed before a pellet mill, extruder, or meal cooler and is available in multiple sizes.

  • Construction: all product-contact components in AISI 304 stainless steel.
  • Drive: direct drive or timing belt transmission (model-dependent).
  • Shaft: solid shaft with large flights and inclined pitch; stuffing box sealings on both ends.
  • Heating: electric system with adjustable thermostat (30–110°C) and rock-wool insulation.
  • Controls: frequency-controlled drive, PT100 temperature sensor.
