New Grinding and Mixing Line for Agrifirm

New Grinding and Mixing Line for Agrifirm

Agrifirm Feed operates a major cattle feed production facility in Drachten, the Netherlands. To meet growing demand for cattle feed and further improve production efficiency, the site underwent an extensive multi-year expansion and modernisation programme.

As part of this development, Ottevanger delivered a second grinding and mixing line. The new line was commissioned in 2015 and increased the production capabilities of the existing feed mill.

The project formed part of a wider investment programme at the Drachten facility. The site was also equipped with additional pelleting capacity and improved storage and dosing systems for minerals and premixes, enabling ingredients to be dosed more accurately and feed formulations to be further refined.

The investments increased the overall production capacity of the Drachten facility from 220,000 tonnes per year in 2006 to approximately 500,000 tonnes of cattle feed per year in 2015.

By expanding the grinding and mixing capacity within the existing production facility, Agrifirm was able to respond to increasing demand while improving the efficiency and flexibility of its cattle feed production.

The reliable backbone of every feed mill

For the grinding phase of feed production, it’s a given that operators need trusted equipment that creates a consistently and evenly ground product. But it’s also essential to release that product as quickly as possible for its onward journey. Our hammer mills and grinding equipment deliver all this and more. Created through a century of the finest Dutch craftsmanship, they can handle granulates of up to 20 mm diameter and can reduce the particle size down to 200 microns approximately. Just as importantly, the other key quality they all share is extremely high efficiency.
