Expanding feed production in Genemuiden
Fuite has been producing animal feed in Genemuiden, the Netherlands, for more than a century. As the family business continued to grow, it once again partnered with Ottevanger for the realisation of its fourth feed mill in Genemuiden.
Factory 4 consists of several production sections. At its core is a 15 t/h grinding, mixing and pelleting line, complemented by a powder mixing section and a 10 t/h flaking line supplied by another feed mill technology provider. The plant also includes a degermination installation for maize and a cleaning installation for maize and alfalfa.
Extensive storage capacity was integrated into the factory. The silo structure comprises 53 dosing silo cells, 3 cleaning silo cells and 22 premix silo cells. By using square silos, Fuite gained 25% more storage capacity compared with round silos, while creating a flexible, hygienic and space-efficient storage solution.
The production lines lead to a fully automated mobile weighing mixer in the loading corridor, enabling finished products to be efficiently and flexibly loaded into bulk trucks. A 39-metre bridge connects Factory 4 with the existing production facilities, allowing raw materials unloaded from ships to be transported to the new factory via Factory 3.
Flexibility for future expansion was incorporated during the engineering phase, including provisions for an additional grinding, mixing and pelleting line. Hygiene and safety were also important considerations throughout the design, with the installation designed in accordance with ATEX requirements.
Construction started with the civil works in early 2017, followed by mechanical installation from mid-April. Factory 4 was completed within the agreed timeframe at the end of April 2018.
The project continued the long-standing cooperation between Fuite and Ottevanger, combining close collaboration with a production facility designed for efficient, flexible and reliable feed manufacturing.
