From grain to feed

Roller Mill

The Ottevanger Roller Mill crushes or structurises grains, oilseeds, and biomass efficiently with low energy use. An integrated rotating feeder spreads product evenly and allows bypass. Large riffled breaking rollers and downstream structurising rollers produce uniform particles with minimal fines, with easy access for cleaning and maintenance.

  • Integrated dual-rotation feeder with breaker/bypass function
  • Precise gap setting with 0.1 mm read-out; remote 0.01 mm option
  • Large riffled rollers with differential speeds for consistent results

Efficient structurising with low energy use

The Roller Mill is designed for breaking and structurising grains, oilseeds and biomass with high accuracy and low energy consumption. An integrated dual-rotation feeder ensures even product flow or bypass, while large-diameter rollers deliver consistent particle size with minimal fines. The modular design allows capacity expansion, improves access for cleaning and maintenance, and supports stable, efficient operation.

Performance & Applications

Overview

Key benefits

Discover the key benefits of the Roller Mill HE, designed for uniform particle size reduction with reliable operation and low maintenance.

  • Even product distribution across the full roller length via integrated rotating feeder
  • Accurate structurising thanks to manual gap adjustment with 0.1 mm read-out; remote adjustment 0.01 mm available
  • Large 300 mm structurising rollers ensure small particles with minimal fines
  • Oil-free double toothed timing-belt drive for clean, low-maintenance transmission
  • Modular HE line enables capacity increase, easy roller exchange from front or sides, and 50% more revision options
  • Frequency-controlled feeder allows dual rotation (breaker/bypass) for process flexibility (frequency converter not included).

Available executions

All machines can be customised. The Roller Mill HE can be configured to match the required capacity, product and plant layout.

  • Single, double or triple unit with electro-pneumatic bypass flap per unit
  • Integrated rotating feeder (mild-steel construction) with two directions: to structurising rollers or bypass
  • Manual roller-gap adjustment with 0.1 mm read-out; optional remote adjustment with 0.01 mm read-out
  • Structurising rollers in ‘Hartguss’ cast iron for long lifetime (5–6× vs chrome steel)
  • Oil-free drive via double toothed timing belt
  • Inlet and outlet flanges supplied with counter flange
  • Frequency-controlled dual-rotation feeder (converter not included).

FAQ

Breaking rollers crack the kernels using large, axially riffled rollers running at different speeds. Structurising rollers downstream (300 mm diameter) set the final particle size with minimal fines.

By the roller-gap setting and differential speed. The standard manual gap has a 0.1 mm read-out; an optional remote system provides 0.01 mm resolution for fine control.

The integrated rotating feeder ensures even distribution to the rollers and can reverse to bypass the structurising stage when required, supporting process flexibility.

The top unit can be supplied as a single, double or triple mill. Each extra unit consists of two structurising rollers and can be equipped with an electro-pneumatic bypass flap.

The HE design provides easy access to all maintenance areas; rollers are exchangeable from the front and sides, and the oil-free belt drive keeps the transmission clean.
