A shared vision in feed innovation
The pet food market continues to evolve rapidly, both in production volume and demand for innovative recipes. Vobra Special Petfoods responded to this trend by developing a brand-new production line in Veghel, enabling highly flexible manufacturing processes and improved control over product quality and composition.
When the land adjacent to the existing facility became available, operations manager Paul Stoutjesdijk was given the opportunity to design the ultimate future-proof factory. The new installation focuses not only on increased capacity but also on innovation. Advanced automation allows precise regulation of kibble size, shape and moisture content, improving taste acceptance and export suitability.
The facility supports the use of fresh ingredients such as vegetables and enables improved processing of potatoes and rice, aligning with growing demand for vegan and gluten-free pet food products. At the same time, the plant can produce recipes with higher meat and fish content, reflecting changing consumer preferences. With more than 500 recipes supported by the new equipment, Vobra can respond quickly to diverse market needs.
The factory has been designed for scalability, allowing an additional production line to be added in the future. With 36 raw material silos, an extensive tank park and 84 dosing points, production capacity has increased to approximately 50,000 tonnes annually.
As main contractor, Ottevanger was responsible for engineering and implementation of the new production tower as well as modifications to the existing facility. TSC supplied the silo block with 24 small cells, while IVS delivered the complete liquid and steam installation.
