Quick Hammer Change System

The Ottevanger Quick Hammer Change System speeds up and simplifies hammer replacement on selected hammer mills. It enables a guided one person change via side access, safely removing and fitting hammers without dismantling. The ergonomic process reduces downtime and returns the mill to production faster.

  • Faster, safer change-overs with clear step sequence
  • Ergonomic access and handling; hammers fall into tray
  • Reduced downtime and maintenance effort

How does it work?

The QHE system makes it easy to replace hammers, using the next steps:

  1. Change to second hammer position
  2. Unlock the screen holder
  3. Connection of holders for hammer exchange unit
  4. Removing the axle
  5. Insertion of the new hammers

Performance & Applications

Overview

Key benefits

Discover the key benefits of the Quick Hammer Change System, designed to maximise mill availability and simplify maintenance.

  • Hammer changes take less time and require only one operator
  • Easy, safe access to the hammer rows and axle via dedicated access point
  • Ergonomic workflow prevents hammers from falling into the hopper and protects surfaces
  • Less downtime helps maintain consistent product quality and throughput
  • Clear, repeatable steps reduce risk of errors during maintenance.

Available executions

All systems can be customised. Quick Hammer Change System can be supplied with new hammer mills or as a retrofit (project-specific). The package typically includes:

FAQ

Unlock the screen holder and remove the screen; connect the exchange holders; open the axle access; withdraw the axle so used hammers drop into the tray; insert new hammers; refit the axle; repeat for remaining rows; close up and restart.

One trained operator can complete the change-over using the QHE holders and rotor lock.

Yes. The guided sequence and one-person operation shorten the maintenance window and return the mill to service sooner.

Yes. The rotor is locked during the procedure and used hammers fall into the tray, avoiding damage to paintwork and preventing ingress into the under-hopper.

QHE is designed for specified Ottevanger hammer mills (e.g. GHM series). Compatibility and retrofit scope are confirmed per project.
