Nupetsa operates a state-of-the-art modular feed factory near San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Strategically located between the motorway and the jungle, the installation was realised from the ground up and is now fully operational, serving as a benchmark project for modular feed milling in Latin America.

The 30 tonnes per hour Modumill consists of dosing silos, a grinding and mixing line, and two compact pelleting lines. The factory is equipped with advanced process technology, including a fully automatic microdosing system, pellet presses and crumblers with automatic roller adjustment, and a thermal conditioning system designed to enhance feed hygiene. This conditioning line combines a hot-start conditioner with a retention time barrel, enabling the treatment of both pellets and mash-based concentrates for laying hens.

The entire installation is fully automated, covering the complete process from raw material intake to filling bulk trucks and bags. An integrated track & trace system ensures accurate registration and hygienic handling of both raw materials and finished feed throughout the process. Extensive dust filtration at intake points and conveyors contributes to a clean and controlled production environment.

What makes this project distinctive is its broad scope of supply. In addition to the complete feed mill installation and machinery, Ottevanger delivered the steam boiler, full electrical installation, automation, transformers, and the connection to the public power grid. To ensure uninterrupted operation in an area prone to power outages, the factory is equipped with two large generators with automatic switching, fully integrated into the electrical system.

The Modumill concept enabled rapid on-site assembly through plug-and-play container modules, significantly reducing construction time while ensuring a compact, self-supporting installation structure. This approach allowed Nupetsa to realise a highly automated, reliable and future-ready feed factory under challenging local conditions.
