Conventional vs Containerized Plant Design

Modernday feed mills could be designed and built as either a conventional or containerized feed mill. A conventional feed mill design requires the main building or superstructure to accommodate and support all the equipment required by the process.Containerized feed plants on the other hand are designed in a modular way, and normally contain all the plant equipment, electrical installation and process control equipment, assembled and installed into support structures the size of one or multiple standard 20-foot shipping containers.

Raw Materials are one of most prominent cost factors in manufacturing Petfoods and Aquatic Feeds. Flexibility in terms of making use of a wide potential range of Raw Materials is key to the commercial success of modern-day Aquatic Feed and Petfood Plants. The cost, availability and physical and nutritional characteristics of raw materials to a large extent dictate how we prepare and store it on-site before Processing takes place. Intake, Cleaning and Storage Options will be discussed as well as effective transition from one process step to the next.

Accurate Ingredient Dosing & Mixing

Batching and Mixing are two of the most important process steps in a feed plant. In this keynote we will highlight the importance of accurate dosing of dry and liquid materials and pre-mixing and the creation of a homogenous meal composition.

Size Reduction & Particle Size Control

Size Reduction is the first Processing Step where both Physical and potentially Nutritional Characteristics of Raw Materials are changed.
The wrong choice of Size Reduction Technology may have a negative effect on extruder operation, nutritional value of end products when size reduction temperatures run high, the physical characteristics of end products and potentially the performance of aquatic feed and petfood. Controlling the Size Reduction Process through applying the correct technology and controlling operation by design is worth the effort.

A continuously developing society becomes increasingly more critical of how Food and Feed Processing Facilities impact the environment around and close to them. Unwanted Odours, Noise and Dust coming from a Processing Plant are disproved of in most developing and developed parts of the world. Even the Aesthetics of a Processing facility my draw objection from the immediate society. Neglecting these issues during the Design Phase of the Project could turn out costly in the future and may even impact the future sustainability of the Plant.
