Mixer Conditioners

A mixer-conditioner is designed to condition the product, by means of adding steam to the process. In this way the product will increase in temperature and will be suitable for further processing, for example pelleting, extruding, expanding, etc.

The powdery substance is continuously added by a dosing arrangement and falls through the inlet into the mixer-conditioner. The mixer-conditioner contains a heavy mainshaft on which many mixer knives are fixed. The shaft turns around with a high r.p.m, so the mixer-knives cut the clotted substance. Because the mixer knives are fixed in a chamfered position they do not only cut and mix, but also transport the substance towards the outlet.

The mixer knives are fixed in such a way that they can easily be replaced. The last mixer knife is fixed in the opposite direction so it keeps the end of the mixer-conditioner free of cakes. The r.p.m., the length of the mixer-conditioner and the chamfered position of the mixer knives are the determining factors for the endurance of the product in the mixer-conditioner.
